The Northeast Asian Studies College attaches great importance to internationalized education, and strives to create a second campus experience for students, and encourages students to apply for world-famous universities to exchange or to take part in short-term language programs, cultural experiencing programs and other overseas activities. From 2016 to 2018, a total of 70 students stepped out of mainland to study and exchange in a second university. In 2018, the proportion of students taking part in mobility programs reached to 9.4%, which is higher than the average of 5.33% of Jilin University.
From November 5th to November 11th, 2018 Professor Pang Deliang and Professor Shen Haitao all together four teachers of Northeast Asian Studies College, led 15 postgraduate students to pay an academic visit to Japan. The delegation visited the Niigata, Osaka, and Kyoto and had conducted a week-long survey on the theme of “China’s State Image in the Eyes of Japanese Youth”. The visit was jointly initiated by the Office of Chinese Language Council International, Northeast Base of Chinese Education, and the Office of Global Engagement, Jilin University. Northeast Asian Studies College is responsible for organization and implementation.
During the visit, the delegation went to famous universities and research institutions such as the Economic Research Institute for Northeast Asia (ERINA), Niigata University, Doshisha University, Ritsumeikan University, and exchanged ideas with Japanese students and researchers on the understanding of China and Japan. Topics about the national image, history and culture, and economic and social issues were discussed honestly and deeply. The exchanges between the students of China and Japan went on smoothly, actively, and activities achieved good results. The delegation's research activities in Japan were immediately tracked and reported by the national media People’s Daily Online, and received wide attention and praise at home and abroad.
